Crafted star systems
Star citizen has the most well-crafted and thought-out planets of all current space games. While there are not endless planets like Elite Dangerous, the planets don’t feel empty. They are alive with unique points of interest, space stations, and more.
Open development
Star Citizen is currently in open alpha. This gives you the opportunity of a lifetime to join in and help the devs shape the game. The devs actively listen to community feedback and suggestions.

Each time a person successfully enlists using your code, you get a prospect. After that person pledging for at least one starter game package (minimum $40), you get a recruit. Only recruits count towards your referral points.
- Recruits always get 5,000 UEC regardless of whether they buy the game
- Gifting from an existing account to the new account doesn’t count towards the $40 threshold.
- Sending gift cards to accounts will not work
- You will lose a recruit when someone refunds their pledge

Yes! At least if you can stomach the sometimes buggy builds. Star Citizen is in open Alpha development. That means any backer can play the game. You should be aware that this is not yet a finished game and crashes, bugs, etc. are to be expected. Nevertheless, it is an amazing experience!
Unknown. That is the only correct answer. However, you can currently play the game and follow the development roadmap. A more personal guess is that the game will enter beta around 2024.
45 USD without tax. That is currently the lowest-priced game package. You don’t need to buy anything else, just earn it in-game. You should however use a referral code (STAR-VF79-PTPN) to register, which gets you a 5 USD bonus.
There are regular Free Fly events throughout the year. If you want to try the game out for free, keep an eye on this page.
Sometimes. Generally speaking, you cannot. You will need to own a Game Package to play. The cost of which is typically around 45 USD. However, there are many Free Fly events throughout the year. During these periods, you can fly many ships without having a Game Package. You just need a free account.
